欧亚大陆的另一端，不一样的世界，不一样的文明！那里多姿多彩的文化孕育出了英国的高贵，德国的严谨，法国的浪漫，西班牙的奔放，意大利的光辉与梦想。在今年万源协和第九届洲际嘉年华活动中，我们来到了这个融合自然与人文之美“西方日落的地方”——欧洲！全体先锋班的孩子一起漫游“欧罗巴”，与老师们尽情徜徉在多元文化的海洋里，享受于独具欧洲风情的盛宴中！
On the other side of Asia there lies a different world; a different civilization! The vibrant culture there has bred the nobility of England, the rigor of Germany, the romance of France, the boldness of Spain, and the brilliance anddreams of Italy. For Wanyuan’s 9th Intercontinental Carnival this year, we have come to a place where the beauty of nature and western humanity are integrated — Europe! All the children of the pioneer class will travel together through the various countries, enjoying Europe’s unique multiculturalism.
本周，为期两天的欧洲嘉年华开幕式拉开了帷幕。11月17日，欧洲嘉年华（学生场）开幕式在孩子们的欢声笑语中款款走来。开幕式上，播放了舞台剧电影——《玫瑰之约》，这是继《海洋心愿》以来，万源协和拍摄的第二部洲际嘉年华主题电影。
This week saw the two-day opening of our European Carnival, beginning on November 17. At the opening ceremony, our students laughed happily to see the film ” The Pact of Roses”, which was the second intercontinental carnival film shot at Wanyuan after “The Wish of the Sea”.
《玫瑰之约》的故事改编于孩子们耳熟能详的迪士尼动画片《美女与野兽》，这也是欧洲经久不衰的育儿故事。它不仅表达了主人公经历重重磨难终于战胜魔咒的主题，而且还体现出的是爱的力量，并懂得如何爱人，只有慈悲和宽容才能造就美好的心灵。凶狠丑陋的野兽最终变回英俊的王子，也是在告诫孩子们外表美并不重要，心灵美才最可贵。
The story of “The Pact of the Roses” is based on Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” one of Europe’s most enduring tales. It not only has a protagonist who overcomes a curse after many hardships, but also shows the power of love, compassion and tolerance to create a beautiful mind. At the end, the fierce and ugly beast finally turns into a handsome prince when his heart learns to love, which teaches children that beauty of the mind is more valuable than beauty of appearance.
次日，欧洲嘉年华（家长场）开幕式隆重登场。为期待已久的家长们送上了两场现场版的舞台剧《玫瑰之约》。在美轮美奂的舞台上，野兽、王子，女巫、贝尔，父亲，猎人、村民，以及变成皇宫的家具们等众多角色，为大家呈现了一场扣人心弦的“野兽王子成长记”。这次，全校长摇身一变，成为了一位欧洲古堡中的老国王，他欣慰地看到曾经任性的王子摒弃了傲慢与自私，变得孝顺而勇敢，懂得友善地对待他人，且具有责任心，也找到了愿意用自己生命去守护的新朋友，感慨万分！当幕布合拢的尾声之际，各年级的家长朋友们和学校嘉宾都对整场演出赞不绝口，大剧院内掌声雷动。
On November 18, parents were invited to watch two live versions of the play “The Rendezvous of the Roses”. On a beautiful stage that was transformed into a palace, the beast, the prince, the witch, Belle, the father, the hunter, the villagers, the furniture and many other characters presented a thrilling growing-up story about the beast. This time, Principal Paul transformed himself into an old king in an ancient castle in Europe. He was glad to see that the wayward prince had learned how to be kind, responsible and brave, and abandoned his arrogance and selfishness. When the final curtain closed, parents and friends of the school burst into applause, and were full of praise for the whole performance.
整场演出不论是精致又大气的舞台布景，小演员流利又严谨的台词，时而荡气回肠、时而热情奔放的音乐，别出心裁又贴合角色的服饰妆容，再到紧凑又清晰的叙事节奏等等各方各面，都竭尽全力地展现出浪漫唯美，华丽辉煌的基调。而贯穿始终的其实是最朴实无华的欧洲文化与中国文化相通的理念——要做真实勇敢正直的人。可以说，台上的每一个角色都是不可或缺，独一无二的，正是这些朋友的不离不弃，想方设法地去改变野兽，才有了王子重新体会到人生的惊喜与感动。而在中国文化中，也提到友谊意味着信约、陪伴与帮助，彼此关心，彼此依存形成了非常有特色的中国式友谊交流方式。这也是《玫瑰之约》在精神层次以及制作程度上让大家欲罢不能，无法抵抗的原因：这场舞台剧将欧洲各国的文化精粹揉和在一起，让热爱知识，有着远大理想的孩子们为世界的真善美所震撼！
The play included a magnificent stage setting, fluent and dramatic lines of the student actors, beautiful and passionate music, unique clothes and makeup, and a clear narrative. Everyone tried their best to show the romantic beauty and interesting tone of the story. Above all, a simple idea links European culture and Chinese culture – the value of being a true, brave and honest person. Every character on the stage is important, and it is these friends who never give up and try their best to change the beast that makes the prince feel the beauty of life again. In Chinese culture, it is also mentioned that friendship means commitment, companionship and help, caring for each other, and interdependence, forming a very distinctive Chinese style of friendship and communication. Our carnival play combines the cultural values of Europe and China, showing children an ideal world of truth, good and beauty.
精彩绝伦的开幕式虽已落下帷幕，嘉年华活动却仍如火如荼地进行中。今年是特殊的一年，这次能圆满完成洲际嘉年华开幕式舞台剧演出实属不易。整个排练过程凝聚了导演组、音乐组、舞蹈组、美术组、家长义工组、道具组、IT组、行政后勤组和摄像组的无数心血和创意。在这里，由衷地感谢大家，为万源协和带来了一场震撼人心的视听盛宴。
Although the wonderful opening ceremony has come to an end, the carnival activities are still in full swing. This year is a special year, and it has not been easy to successfully complete the opening stage performance of the Intercontinental Carnival. The whole rehearsal required the efforts and creativity of the group director, the music department, the dance group, the art department, the parent volunteer group, the prop group, the IT department, the administrative logistics department and the camera group. We would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone for helping to bring a stunning and memorable audio-visual feast to Wanyuan. Thank you as well to all the teachers and students of the Primary School, as well as the Parent Committee, for their strong support!

Carnival is a celebration of happiness, a grand event integrating Chinese and Western cultures, a series of interdisciplinary inquiry and learning, and also a wonderful opportunity for home-school interaction and cooperation. Over the next month, we aim to broaden the international perspective of our students by means of cross-cultural understanding and learning about the different customs and cultures, rich and profound history, and amazing development of Europe.
