Having teaching qualification certificates in both English and Chinese, Li Mengru always encourages students to think actively in class, helping them to change from passive learner into active ones. With fun and vibrant teaching, she endeavors to discover the potential and sparkle of every single student. Outside the classroom, she actively encourages students to learn the essence of traditional Chinese culture – every Thursday morning she will read Chinese ancient poetry along with her students. She also led the children to constantly explore and discover the mysteries of the world, adopting Western culture in English lessons to help the students understand cultural differences. She hopes that all her children can truly integrate Chinese and Western cultures through inquiry-based learning, and thus become brilliant talents in the future.
Li Mengru keeps good relationship with her students by thinking from their perspectives and gaining their trust. She is always willing to give a caring hug to a weeping child; or give an encouraging look to a child in difficulties; or give a praising thumb-up to a child with great progress. As a homeroom teacher, Li always pays close attention to setting up a good learning atmosphere in class. She organized the “Scholarly Campus, Book Drifting” activity, which boosted students’ enthusiasm for English reading. After class, all the students would rush to read books, creating a vibe of “scholarly class”. In the meantime, she also set up a plant corner in the class, helped the children to grow bean sprouts and other small plants. It not only made the classroom look more beautiful, but also motivated the children to discover nature.
Li has been dedicated to research on education and teaching. She used to be the head of the provincial 13th Five-Year Teaching Research Project; she organized the school’s materials to declare the 23rd Achievement Award of the Minhang District. She also won the title of “Excellent Homeroom Teacher”, “Excellent Instructor” and “Excellent Communist Party Member”.
